Iron Oxidizing Bacteria An article by Larry Miller, U.S. Geological Survey. Gazos Creek, which flows through the grounds of our Field Research Station, is host to a colony of bacteria that gain their energy not from oxygen, but from iron dissolved in the water.

Flora and fauna database Students and visitors to the PCA Field Research Station and nearby San Mateo coast participate in guided walks on which they collect and identify fungi, wildflowers, trees and tide pool creatures.

Mission College Tropical Ecology Class We are pleased to support Professor Jean Replicon's Course on Tropical Ecology at Mission College. At this site, students contribute their observations and digital photos from the course and final field trip in Costa Rica, January, 2004.
