Leaf cutter ants

If you look carefully under each leaf you will notice an ant under it. These ants are leaf cutter ants, and they have evolved to cultivate fungus with the help of mulch created by breaking down the leafs. These ants are quite abundant all over Costa Rica. For my research I studied these ants on both of the trips I have taken to Costa Rica.
