Birds of the Central Coast

Les will present a slide show/lecture on the natural history of local bird species followed by a two-hour birding tour of the Gazos Creek Watershed. The lecture will concentrate on marine and migratory bird species as well as resident populations.

Les is a professional bird guide and he has taught Adult Education birding classes in Palo Alto for 8 years. He is a wildlife photographer and has been banding birds for 9 years. He is a member of the editorial committee for the Santa Clara Bird Atlas and he leads Sierra Club bird outings to Alaska.

Where: Field Research Station at Gazos Creek, Pescadero
Cost: $5 suggested donation per person or family
(children welcome if they do not interfere with the speaker)

Directions:  Take Hwy 1 north from Santa Cruz.  Turn Right on Gazos Creek Road (at the lighthouse gas station after Costanoa, 2 miles before the Pescadero Lighthouse).  Take Gazos Creek Rd. 6 windy miles till it dead-ends. Enter the gate on the left and we will direct you to parking.
